MEETING AGENDA: Digital Asset Management
We live in a digital world today. From acquisition to edit to archive, all of us are working with a growing library of digital assets. Whether you’re a one man band, boutique facility or a broadcaster, we all have the same issues. Using the right storage for the task at hand and then properly storing those digital assets so you can access them later. How DO you store all those files so you can get to them 2, 5, 20 years from now? And how in the world can you catalog all of them so you can find what you need?
We’ll take a look at some workflows and ideas that affect all of us in Post Production.

Demystifying Storage – presented by Small Tree, Atlanta Cutters Platinum Sponsor.
Look at just about any professional user forum out there and the single most popular question is usually “What Storage Should I Buy?” There is a virtual soup of elements to consider when choosing the right answer for your situation. Editing, Audio Design, Animation, and Graphics design to name a few have different needs both in terms of speed and size of storage. Do I need RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10…. and what exactly do all of those numbers mean? USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, eSATA, SAS, Fibre, and this new thing called Thunderbolt…. Is 1TB enough? 2, 10, 100… how much is enough? Should I get local storage or something I can share with another computer or 10, or 100? The folks at Small Tree will help demystify what is one the most important aspects of your business.
